Messy Play Idea for babies and toddlers - Jelly Dig
Here's another great messy play idea for you to do with your little ones. I did this with my 4-year-old but I think it would be great for babies and for older siblings as it can be adapted.
What you will need:
- Splash Mat - it gets very messy! The one we have here is our large Rainbow Beau Print messy mat.
- Jelly - I used two packets of Hartleys Orange Jelly Cubes.
- Fruit, Sweets or Toys to put in your jelly - Please note fruits like Kiwi, Mango and pineapple have enzymes in them that will prevent your jelly from setting so best to avoid those! I used blueberries and strawberries.
Simply make up your jelly as you usually would but for babies add in some toys and for older kids add in some fruit or sweets so that when it is set they can go digging to retrieve them! This is a great sensory activity as well. My four year old loved 'bobbing' for the bits of fruit I put in ours. It was something different and fun to do.
